About Patrick

Hi, I’m Patrick — a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Registered Dietitian.
I earned my personal training certification in 2016 and have since worked with a diverse range of clients in both private and group settings. I completed my degree through Youngstown State University’s Coordinated Program in Dietetics and passed the RD exam in 2021. My internship experience included a full year of clinical rotations, food service management, long-term care, and community nutrition. Since then, I’ve worked as a clinical dietitian in hospital settings and have counseled clients through my private practice.

My passion is helping people live healthier, stronger, and more purposeful lives — combining evidence-based fitness and nutrition to build sustainable habits.
Outside of my professional life, I wear many hats: I’m a husband, father, and bartender, and I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for over a decade. I love being active — whether I’m lifting weights, running, riding bikes, or playing basketball. But I also enjoy gardening, cooking, music, home improvement projects, and spending time with my family (including pets). If I had to rate my activity level, let’s just say I’m definitely in the “highly active” category.

But it wasn’t always like this.
I’ve come a long way on my health and fitness journey, and where I am now sure beats where I may have ended up if I never developed the healthy habits that led me here.
My Health and Fitness Journey
Growing up, I was overweight and inactive. My diet was made up of spaghettios, sugary cereals, soda, and pizza — and vegetables were pretty much non-existent. I lived with my grandparents, who lovingly spoiled me but didn’t have much knowledge about health and nutrition. I wasn’t very active and struggled with self-esteem for much of my childhood.

Things began to change when I moved out with my mom and future stepdad around age 10. They emphasized balanced meals and regular family dinners, and I became more active — riding bikes and playing sports with neighborhood kids. In 8th grade, I joined the football team, and the increase in daily physical activity helped me lose weight and gain confidence.
At 17, I started working out seriously for the first time. I bought a set of adjustable dumbbells, read all the fitness magazines (yes, I am old!), watched a ton of the OG fitness Youtubers (Scooby1961 and Elliott Hulse were my go-tos), and went to town lifting, running, biking, and jumping rope. The newbie gains were strong, and I even got lean enough to finally see my abs for once in my life!

Then came college.
From 18 to 23, I lost all the discipline I had built. I smoked a pack of cigarettes a day, binge drank most weekends, ate whatever was convenient, and stopped working out. I gained 15 pounds of fat and was constantly out of breath. I remember vividly one moment at work — winded after climbing a single flight of stairs — and realizing I needed to change.

In 2014, I made a decision that would change my life: I quit smoking cold turkey and recommitted to taking care of myself. I started exercising again, planning meals, and rebuilding discipline one day at a time. It was hard — most days I wanted to quit — but I had a vision for the man I wanted to become, and that vision kept me going.
Since then, I haven’t looked back. I live life on purpose now. I move and workout daily. I eat food to fuel my body. I’ve trained for a powerlifting meet, ran multiple 5Ks, 10Ks, and a half marathon, become a Certified Personal Trainer, earned my degree to become a Registered Dietitian, and now help others live healthier lives through movement and nutrition.
The best part is I’m nothing special. If I can do this, you can too!
